What am I missing? Fast running classes are gonna clean house.

AND NCSOFT, You have the nerve to put an ORC on the splash screen promoing the event! THE SLOWEST CLASS IN THE GAME!

Is it April 1 yet? Which genious thought this one up?

Edit:

And another thing the splash image shows a Strider running too! =D

AGAINST THE RULES

=B This is a joke right?

seems like a fairly fun event, but it seems horribly geared towards elves in big clans. I guarantee you all the winners will be silver rangers with clerics WW2ing them constantly.

I have no idea about the event U R talking about but Orc Tyrants are pretty quick.

The fastest class i can think of is probably a tyrant, AN ORC by the way.

Rabbit totem + WW2/greater haste potion + doom light + dex tats + song of wind + strider = ungodly speed, at least over 250.

I stand corrected on the Orc issue, even if it is geared to high end...

I guess NCSOFT are trying with these events but this one is a bit... I dunno... obscure? Running between towns just seems... boreing. Ok to some it might be appealing, to some collecting fungi is fun or boogers... oO

Im sure some people are chomping at the bit to get going and the DEV who thought this one up is patting themself on the back for a job well done, they dont get out much ><

Collecting medals for a bunch of cats seems retarded on paper too. That one seemed to be pretty successful.

There are so many factors that make this game so sided that its not even funny, this is like rewarding the players that can afford to buy their characters, a really nice comp that won't have a lag spike ever when changing zones...lol yeah I lag a little here and there, and  I'm a prophet...either one of those pretty much disqualifies me from this one...

I think that they should have divided it up so that you have a Strider class winner, Orc fighter winner, Orc mystic winner, Human fighter winner, Human mystic winner and so on. That way each class has a chance to win. Makes for better competition. Having just 1 winner on the whole server alienates 80% of the server. (That percentage is just a "pulled out of the blue" number. There are 5 races you can choose from and most likely only 1 of those races is going to be able to put up a good speed time. Thus 4/5, 80%, would have virtually no chance of winning.)

Even better I think that they should have had 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for each class. Be it a starter class, 1st class transfer class, or 2nd class transfer class. Then even the lowest level people would have a chance to get something really good for when they reach higher levels. You would then have 60-1st place winners, 60-2nd place winners, and 60-3rd place winners. (That includes a strider for each level of class transfer.) There would be alot more people wanting to compete if it was spread out more like this.

What do you think about this setup?

P.S. Just be glad that they didn't include all the starter towns. Just think about the number of people waiting on the boat. HaHaHa. You would have to time your arrival at the boat so you wouldn't have to wait on it. Can you swim to Orc land or Dwarf land? You can't use the teleporters. Need the Eva waterbreathing potions for that one. I don't think anyone would win if those towns were included/

This is gonna be between the Orc fighters with their self speed abilities/pots/dex bonus's/dex tats and the SwS with their song of wind/sprint2/dex bonus's/dex tatas.

Why bother competing lol. Mabey my plainswalker will have a shot.

having 1 winner per class would be a bit stupid. Think how the economy would die with all those enchant weapon and armor A scrolls floating around

But the economy already sucks. This wouldn't make as big an impact as you think. It might change things for a week at the most then everything would go back to bad again. You even stated earlier that it is geared to only a couple of classes. This would make it geared to all classes. Plus, it isn't every character on the server that has a chance to win, it is only 1 character per account.

to not destroy economy they could make the revards smaller.

PS: i'm not going partisupate in event anyway, with my shaman and dwarwen figter, both having run speed of 125 unbuffed, no extra cash to buy +run armor, tattos and runing pots. oh yeah, no friendly buffers to run allong with speading buffs. oh yeah, it probably too dangerose for me to go off-road and in some plases on-road with the mobs twise, or 3 times hier then me by lvl and all thouse agro casters i bet i can find along the way.

Yup, to limit the economy hit (i.e 32 different people each getting around 20 million adena each [however much all the junk the winner gets is worth]), they'd really have to redice the value of the prizes, which in turn, reduces the number of people who wanna participate, i mean, the people really going for this even will spend millions of adena to make sure they win, they'd be a bit pissed if their prize totalled 1 million adena in all.

It's lose lose, at least this way, it's geared towards certain classes but has a nice reward, rather than haing an awful reward that everyone could get.

i think were all missing the point of this event a little bit tbh.

sure there is only one or two CLASSES capable of winning it, but to really acheive a great time will involve a GROUP of ppl all working together to help that toon SWS or TYRANT get the best time possible, or at least thats how i see it.

i think what theyre looking for is big clans have buffers stationed along the route helping the toon. and ppl mapping the best over land routes etc.

thats what i think anyway

You all are missing one HUGE thing... Breaking a rule restarts the run... death is consiered a SOE.. WHICH MEANS.. killing someone will restart the run. Also do you know why striders arn't used in PVP... they can't take hits, even with armor they are a punching bag. Most people that see this loop hole will be waiting and watching. They will set up watches at each one of these NPC's, and have groups waiting outside the city. Your going to need groups to do this.. This is ment to be a PvP event.. Why do you think they make you run??

You are correct. Every board that I've been to has all come to this same conclusion. It's going to be a bloodbath.  Unfortunately, this still favors large clans as they will have the largest mob to protect individuals, but large clans will almost always have an advantage in any event.   I could give a crap about running this event, but I will have fun PvP'ing with my buddies to stop others from winning. Time to choose up sides boys and girls and let the games begin....

Unless the rules of competition has been changed, stryders were allowed when I read the intro to the event on the L2 official site.

yup yup, my bad. they have revised the conditions of contest. this revised version sounds a bit more fair but less incentive to do the run i think. Considering most clans members will be targeting other clans' runners to give an edge to their clanny. if I am not mistaken they reduced the value of the prizes, no?

Keep your eyes peeled for Temple Knight and Paladin Gank squads camping out at the entrance of Gludin.
