NCsoft has always been working on this problem, and this just proves it. score for ncsoft! wewt! it makes me wonder though, just how much money did the server owner make from all those "donations", and whether he can just buy himself out with all of it.

The owner of l2 extreme ran off with 40,000 bucks of donations and tried to go out with a bang 2. The FBI got him There's a lot of rumors and crap goin on also, and there's been like 3 edits to the main site to make it look more real so eh, im leaning towards 1.

Posts: 3216 Joined: 17 Dec 2003 | To be perfectly honest, I have never seen a website being "taken over" by the FBI for copyright infringement. This is a total scam. From everyone that I have talked to, L2Extreme is the only private server that is off the market, the rest seem to be fine. That one website that sold Mod Chips for PS2s (Liksang.com?) was simply told to stop their website, nothing like the BS we're seeing on L2Extreme's website. Why would the logo link to the main FBI site? If it was real it would link to the case information or even a valid page specifically about copyright information. The site owner must be 15 years old to expect people to fall for this. |

Also with the Pirate Bay torrent network site. This looks real enough to me, although I would not doubt a private server admin running off with that kind of cash.

For those of you investing your cash into donations for various private servers out there, let this stand as a warning for you. Your cash CAN be wasted this way. Man up and pay the $15 a month and play on NCSoft servers. For you Americans looking to join up on NCSoft servers, visit Direct2Drive and get your serial code from them for cheap, or go to www.Lineage2.com and get it there. If someone has advice for the Europeans who may choose to join up on the official servers feel free to add it in! |

Not realy - TPB was down for 2 days or sth like that and then not only free of any charges but they also got financial retribution. To put it simple: FBI can only crash servers in US. |
Murderator Posts: 7193 Joined: 18 Apr 2004 | They just did a similar thing with the site, it was taken over or whatever and something about the legal status was written - I know it wasn't the FBI, it was the Swiss Guard or the Varangian Guard or something like that, maybe the Geats came back over from Denmark, same difference.

WoW has how many subscribers? 6-7million? L2 has 14million. the reason why L2 isn't very successful in NA is because of a culture difference. here we are tought about independence, whereas in the eastern world people are tought about interdependence. but enough of that, its going offtopic now.
