Master Looter Posts: 1809 Joined: 14 Feb 2005 | I've been using the new leveling system for a few months now and it's easier for peeps who don't play one toon continuously for a long time. I get a 300% bonus for 15minutes or so but the longer I play the lower to bonus gets. |

Master Looter Posts: 2315 Joined: 13 May 2005 | Fancy play on the Korea servers and they are slightly ahead of us ;) and i read that the more xp you gain, the faster this bonus evaporates. so i dont think it will have that much of an effect at the top lvl. but it might be a good idea to get fresh toons up to a reasonable lvl without grinding 4 months. Site Manager Posts: 4062 Joined: 6 Dec 2004 | Fancy - has the base monster exp been raised at all? because a 300% exp bonus for 15 minutes really doesn't seem like it'll have much of an effect on levelling speed. Lineage 2 WarCry Site Manager |
Master Looter Posts: 2315 Joined: 13 May 2005 | well, he never said how high it is after these 15 mins have passed. if it only drops to 290% it wont be too bad for improving your speed =) Lineage2: prepare to grind - like you've never grinded before |
Master Looter Posts: 1809 Joined: 14 Feb 2005 | It starts at 300%, drops to 250%, 200%, 150% and then down to 100% . The lower the % the longer the time it lasts. After 1 hour of XPing continuously I'm usually down to 200%. I can't stand getting regular XP anymore so I change to a toon I haven't played in awhile and play for another hour on that one. It takes almost a day of not playing for that toon to get its relax % back to 300%. I've also heard that if you rest in a town, dungeon or field the %relax recharges faster or slower but I haven't notice much of a difference. It's really good for me because I usually only have an hour or two a day to play. But I imagine if U play for 3, 4 or more hours at a time it would have less effect. |
Master Looter Posts: 2315 Joined: 13 May 2005 | sounds good and bad for me. i am allready toon-mad and have way too many of them. with the rested xp i will be constantly trying to lvl at optimum xp range. thats going to be one hell of a chronicle. Lol, no I don't think it will THAT easy! I figure with the new relax/xp boost hiitting 82 will take, oh, FOREVER -1. So not much of a change. I think these new implementations are good for the game. Anything that will get new players interested is a good thing for all of us. |
Site Manager Posts: 4062 Joined: 6 Dec 2004 | I think I agree with Hemi, they're going the way of WoW in that their updates are gonna just keep adding high level content (WoW only ever makes tweaks to low level content), so it makes sense to give newer players a helping hand to get to the content. I for one got a little annoyed at all the high level content being added that I just couldn't experience, as I couldn't commit the time to levelling. I think anything that makes the game more accessible to the MMO public is a positive thing, I know a lot of people who think it's a good game, but just can't get anywhere with it. Dungeon Crawler Posts: 518 Joined: 7 Aug 2006 | i have a few toons in there mid to upper 60's, and a few in the 55+ range. But after 66 it realy starts to become more obvious that you are swimming upstream. Personaly i have canceld both of my accounts just a few days ago, cuz i cant justify paying the subs. when i get bored so quickly. Like fancypants, i only have a few hours on week nights, and using that small amount of time, to clear a room in a cata nonstop, to gain my few %'s is just mind numbing, so i have descided to play other games where i can achieve larger goals in that amount of time. Dont get me wrong, i love L2 and i respect its challenging grind, but at the 66+ mark u realy gotta re-evaluate your intentions, and make the choice of weather or not the end game is worth the investment that awaits you. Maybe ill go back eventualy like i have about a dozen times in the past 4-5 years. "From rivers of sarrow, to oceans deep with hope,i have traveld them" Chuck S. R.I.P |

They've increased xp for everything, whether you have the vitality boost or not.
The best way to get rid of that feeling is to play with a friend or friends, so instead of focusing on clearing a room, you are simply chatting and laughing with your buddies... while clearing the room.

Site Manager Posts: 4062 Joined: 6 Dec 2004 | Friends make or break any MMO ultimately. I play WoW currently because a lot of my friends are playing it, we can group up, help eachother, chat and basically have a good time. The same was true of lineage 2. You'll tire of any MMO if you play them like a single player game. Its just sad when your friends quit a game, it tends to lose some appeal at that point. I know if I logged into WoW tomorrow and all my friends had quit, I wouldn't stay with it for long. Hence I feel this update will help L2. More new blood on the servers means more people to enjoy playing with. Lineage 2 WarCry Site Manager |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 518 Joined: 7 Aug 2006 | ya, and realy, in L2 it seems alot less frequent to create friendships in game, lasting ones especialy. Mainly the only people i have kept close contact with for any extended period would be those IRL people i spoke of,with the exception of some infrequent " hey i remember you" moments. I play some other games where i have friends i have known in the game for long periods of time, and it deffinatly helps the fun factor.I hate to say it, but having my IRL friends in the same game as me can actualy get annoying, ive actualy stopped l2 a few times to avoid them LOL.( its not as bad as it sounds ) "From rivers of sarrow, to oceans deep with hope,i have traveld them" Chuck S. Master Looter Posts: 2315 Joined: 13 May 2005 | i doubt it will noticeably increase the "stupidity factor", L2 just isnt well known enough for that and without advertising people wont keep hearing about these changes. but the economy could become the real problem. faster lvling together with the same low drop tables as today, can become problematic for new/fresher players, since they will feel the need for better gear even sooner than today. but maybe the change that shops now sell up to b-grade equipment will help to reduce this problem. Lineage2: prepare to grind - like you've never grinded before |
Adventurer Posts: 493 Joined: 28 Jul 2004 | The masses dictate(lol, dictate) the economy. If people can't afford whats for sale, the prices drop. How soon that happens depends on how big the "mass" is. |
Moderator Posts: 5592 Joined: 30 Jun 2004 | Low grade gear becomes nearly useless, prices skyrocket. High level gear suddenly in huge demand, prices go up (yes, increase as well) even more than they used to be. Thus is the economy of L2. Whatever the reason, prices rise.

Killed 10 Boars Posts: 11 Joined: 21 Jul 2008 | Well, I'm right now considering of returning to L2. Back when I left L2, it was so time-consuming that leveling my toon was impossible for me. Heard through the forum that leveling is much easier now (otherwise I wouldn't consider replaying the game) but I still need more precise estimation. So how much time does it actually take for a character to be able to use C, B, A grade (I don't know what lvl it requires to be able to become familiar with A grades)? Thanks for the answer. |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 518 Joined: 7 Aug 2006 | well this is a vague question, and like i mentioned on another topic just now, Gracia update lands soon and will change this yet again. A few variables to keep in mind, which lead me to say the question is vague, are as follows. many other variables come into play when trying to calculate the time it takes to reach certain lvls, even to simply set an average, and as i mentioned above, Gracia will be adjusting the lvling speed to be slightly quicker in a few different ways. For the hell of it, ill give u round number for my own experiances, which sadly for you, are set in the most ideal circumstances, namely, multi boxing, knowing the best spots to grind, having enough currency to fund all equip, and undisturbed playing environment. fastest i lvld a character 1-40 was bladedancer (palus knight) using 2 swords OE'd to +10, with lvl 60+ SE buffs, took ruffly 4 days, or 28-30 hours of game play, this includes lvl 20 and 40 class exchange quests. Adventurer Posts: 493 Joined: 28 Jul 2004 | There is a thread on the official forums that states you can hit level 18 killing as few as 15 mobs. So level 20 should take about 30-45 min, due to these being "quest" mobs. I think 40 in a couple days is a resonable assumption. But the wall will be hit at A grade. You will not have the money for it due to the fast leveling. |
Master Looter Posts: 1352 Joined: 24 May 2005 | Hopefully they increase either quest reward money, or increase money drops, if not, then, eh. I really don't hope NCsoft isn't that stupid, lol. But, lvl 20 in a hour? I remember when it took about a whole day to reach 20, playing nonstop with like, no buffs.

erm, i remeber needing nearly 2 months to reach lvl 20  Lineage2: prepare to grind - like you've never grinded before |
Dungeon Crawler Posts: 518 Joined: 7 Aug 2006 | well in open beta, and the 1st few weeks of live release, the lvl 1-20 areas where so overrun, you could litteraly get in pvp fights over who gets the 2-3 spawns in your area. And there were no noobie npcs, no noobie soulshots, and nearly no buffers to call for help. I think my 1st attempt in open beta took ruffly 3-5 weeks to hit 20, this was partly due to the frustration of the territorial pvp that prevented me from farming on many occasions.I assumed there were no major established pvp clans withen the 1st 3 weeks, this misconception lead to an altercation near S.O.D.A which basicly got me on a kos list when i was finaly nearing 20..(lvl17) ,well the clan was large enough that i was killed on site withen 3-4 min of hunting in any of the races home areas, basicly i had to reroll. =/ im pretty sure that same clan evolved into what is now, ether "No compromise" or "The damned" , go figure. Adventurer Posts: 493 Joined: 28 Jul 2004 | Yea, bout the same for me took 3 weeks or so at release to hit 20. And Wolfkin... "NPC Changes Changes to Monsters The rewards have been increased for the monsters that can use soulshots, spiritshots, and long-range shield skills. Raid Boss Rewards You can acquire Superior Items by hunting Raid Bosses. Changes to Ordinary Monster Rewards New items, such as weapons, armor, and accessories, can be acquired from normal monsters." That is straight from the update notes. So we'll see how increased the rates are once it goes live, but looks better. |

It took my first character about 2 months. Mainly because I d lvled a lot so I would have enough money for D gear. After that, I was able to buy top NG stuff for alts.

I'm thinking of starting from scratch on Teon, guess most of the player are just sub or resub their main, so they would probably have no need for non grade or [perhaps :)] D-grade stuffs anymore. Actually, even the cost of D stuffs would be almost like nothing now as adena price is as low as 40 - 50 USD per 100 mil and almost top D set would be around 20 mil or less. If anyone think their NG and D-gears are for no use and not worth the time looking for buyers, there's someone who could make use of them here :). |

How I Mine 4 Fish? Posts: 65 Joined: 9 Dec 2007 | LOL so thats how people think of money in this game now? *Hmmm, this A-grade gear is only going to cost me like 10 hours of minimum wage work, I can do it!* On a serious note, I've stopped playing till Gracia comes. I sold my berserker blade for like 15mil, and I will just buy one back for like 1mil at the shop when Gracia comes. Then, I can get to B-grade. A-grade, however, will be a huge pain in the ass. I'm thinking I'll make a dwarf if cash is too hard to get. |
Moderator Posts: 5592 Joined: 30 Jun 2004 | Nah, just start using the manor. Scavvies don't make money anymore unless you are up high spoiling B/A grade recipes and mats. You want to spend time leveling all the way up there? And then you won't have money to equip your scavvy anyway. Not to mention that farming the mobs that spoil that stuff isn't something very easy to do alone.

I am sure you must have heard, but in summary leveling in L2 is now as easy as in *cough*.
