They have corporate offices in both Texas and California now, are publishing a VERY VERY American game - City of Heroes, not to mention Exarch and Guild Wars. And did you notice the want-ad for an AMERICAN Online Community Representative. Not Korean - American. I'd say all of these are indications that NCSoft is very serious about an American Market. They've intimated several times that the game will be subtly different in the US to appeal to our culture.... I dunno. I just can't see blaming them for something they did 5-8 years ago against something that's yet to happen. [Edited by Ophelea at 3:52 PM on 8/24/2003] |

They didn't realize with the first Lineage that so many US players were interested in it, but they can tell this about Lineage II, thanks to the internet the way it is today. I enjoy the Korean beta quite a bit, so I can imagine how AWESOME the US version will be. I cannot wait :-D |

City of Heroes was easily the most innovative concept to hit MMOGs in a long time. It wasn't just the Superhero Genre brought to life, it was they way the developers were intending to design the game that made it so innovative. There were no classes or levels. Players were free to design their characters as they saw fit, and use their rewards to improve as they deemed important. Every character was free to be crafted as the player saw fit, in a world that tried to mirror physics (and break them with superpowers), not follow the standard that was created by Everquest who was simply trying to see if it was possible to merge a MUDD and first person shooter graphics. When NC Soft "took over" the project, all of this changed, the game became classes and levels, and the interest plummetted. As for Lineage 1 being unpopular, I played it and I have to say it was alarmingly similar to Diablo. The problem there was they brought a game design that was outdated to the table. Lineage 2 seems for all intents and purposes to be as top of the line as they can make it, so I don't think it will have the same problems. I just hope the people at NC Soft do by all means realize that American players place a tremendous priority not just on a LOT of content, but a LOT of good content. We are a nation built upon the expectation of freedom, which also appeals to us greatly in our entertainment. The more options and possibilities we have, the happier we are. We would much rather ponder and fret over what to choose than not be able to choose at all. |

Just thank goodness the US has a non-extradition treaty with the Korean Government. BTW according the the Korean sign-up the forgery of a Korean SSN is equivalent to felony identity theft and carries a good sized fine as well as possible jail time. Not to mention if the devs suspect you obtained the beta illegally they reserve the right to perma ban w/o explination. I reallize this is not a deturrent to some of you, but I thought you should have all the facts. |

You can find it here - http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/434/434111p1.html?fromint=1 :) As to the other points, we're definitely looking very closely at the North American market expectations, the current state of online games in the North American territory, and at the user comments we're seeing on this site and others - because we want Lineage II to be fun and exciting, just as you do. :) -Leilo |

By the way US doesn't have all the spells but neither does Korea. Korea doesnt have the lvl 10 spells either so I don't see what your complainin about. |

I still don't completely agree with them, but I am glad to at least read the logic behind them. So far Lineage II looks great, and all I can say is please keep up the good work. |

There are many features in Dark Age of Camelot that were said to be skills/abilities of certain classes but those had not been implemented to this very day. I would list them all here but this is not a discussion board for Dark Age of Camelot and I'm very positive those of you who play DAoC knows about the missing skills/abilities to which I am referring to. All companies make promises and sometime they deliver 80% of the promised contents...c'est la vie. |

We all know NC lies. THey make outrageous promises that they never carry through on.
One look at their lineage1 web site reveals a whole host of spells and items that no American has ever seen, or will ever see.
They wonder why lineage1 was a remarkable failure in the united states yet they gave the US half the game their main korean players got.
Maybe if the US was allowed to play the ACTUAL lineage game things would be different.
I don't need to remind anyone that lineage1 episode12 was suppose to have a Trading system... it was never put in. And Dragons? Not on the USA's flag ship server LandsOfAden.
So who thinks Lin2 will be different?
I'm on korean beta now, and besides putting up with the PKing because I speak english (I can live with that, i'm not there to lvl, just learn for US beta), but I read about wyverns, dragons, all these crazy spells, these neat paths to choose. And I'm excited, actually excited about lin2.
My 18th lvl mage now is having a good time.
So who things they'll actually come through and provide to the US the things they are promising for Lin2?
Or do you think it'll be another half assed (or whole assed) attempt to break into the US market by providing a substandard game.
