If you want to play a fun, very involved and skill-oriented character that will have you hot-switching between all three of your shortcut bars and get your adrenaline pumping, then play Tyrant.

Moderator Posts: 6301 Joined: 30 Jun 2004 | No. It's just that a Glad wears heavy armour, while a tyrant *should* wear light armour. If you play your tyrant well, making use of your evasion totem when needed, then your light armour will only help you.

As far as easier to level, Tyrants can run around at bison/zealot in a catacomb (or anywhere else for that matter) and just desecrate the mobs. Gladi's can utilize poles rather well and can aoe up to A grade rather fast with only a SE partner. Gladis get detect weakness skills that make leveling on those mobs very nice, and the areas include Frozen Labyrinth, Wall of Argos, Hot Springs, and for end game gladis with the right support, FoG. All of those are extremely popular leveling areas. So for places where the two classes excel, gladis have a slightly smaller list, but in those areas they get faster xp then the tyrants can in most anywhere else. As for pvp then its really all about your playstyle. Both are charge based classes with powerful combos. The main differences between the two classes are the armors used (heavy for gladis, light for tyrants) and that tyrants use totems. The totems, tyrants claim to fame, are what make them dangerous. the totems let them adjust to any class they face, this makes them extremely versatile. However the totems are also the tyrants biggest weakness (dont flame me just read), because the totems allow for an adaption to fight a specific set of classes this makes a tyrant weaker to attacks from another set of classes. So in essence a tyrants biggest advantage can also be their biggest weakness. Tyrants also get an easily accessible list of debuffs which make it harder for them to be kited. Gladiators have more powerful specials than tyrants, they also get war cry and duelist spirit which greatly increase atk.spd. and p.atk. Gladiator specials consume fewer charges then tyrant specials which means less downtime for charging. Due to skill reuse time gladis can chain specials extremely fast. Gladiators also have high p. and m.def as well as an extremely large HP/CP pool so they can take massive amounts of damage and keep on moving. End game gladis have a couple of tricks up their sleeves, sonic rage+sonic blaster are a devastating combo they can be chained continually without using a lot of mp. (this is something tyrants can do but its not nearly as effective as when a gladi does it). Also main class Duelists get disarm, right now the book for that drops off epics but in CT2.3 it can be earned in the new oly. Because gladi's go +STR+CON-DEX in pvp tattoos they have high chance for skill crits (2x dmg of reg skill), while this setup makes them extremely devestating it is also their greatest weakness. Gladiators have horrible run speed, to compensate they get a dash skill which consumes charges. The reason gladis are considered to have better defence against most classes is not because of a shortcoming in the tyrant, but only because a gladi has all his defences up at one time while a tyrant has his defence in his totems and can only defend against a handfull of classes at one time. In the end both classes are very similar and have only a few differences that make their gameply extremely different. Gladiator 7x |
