there are other slamanders down in the forgotten temple and i havent been able to get my quest item form them. I have went as deep as I could and still no lava salamanders. have they changed the name of the monsters? I dont even see the forgotten temple on the database. whats goin on?

no, they havent changed them. i cant find a good map atm, but what you have to do is to turn right once you entered the the forgotten temple. after that you have to go two or three rooms deep. the salamanders themselve are not in one of the main rooms, but they will be in one of the left side rooms. easiest thing for me was to allways use the command "/target lava salamanders" (without the ""). that will then point you on your way.

its best to get a friend to come in with you, as you will pass quite some agro mobs on your way.
